The school year is flying by!  We have already been on two field trips!  We have learned about the Regions of Virginia, Indians, Jamestown, and we are moving on!   We have a BIG social studies project due on Tuesday.  Students can create a map of Virginia, write and Indian Legend, or make a pamphlet of  a region they are intested in.

In Langauge Arts we have already read many books and are currently reading a historical ficton novel titled Pocahontas and the Strangers.  We will follow this unit with another historical fiction novel titled A Lion to Guard Us.

I would like to thank you all for making my birthday so special!  I have the best class and parents ever!!!!!!

I am  sorry that so many of our classmates have been ill this year.  This is a good time to remind  parents that if  your child is absent from school please let us know via e-mail if you will be picking up work that day.  We send around a make-up sheet with all assignments listed and will have everything in the office by 2pm or earlier if needed.

We are on a roll….

I can’t believe this is our 3rd week of school.  Time flies when you are having fun.  Our schedule this year is very intense.  We start learning and working at 7:45AM and we don’t take a break until 11:15AM.  This is time for a quick recess and then back to the classroom until LUNCH at 12:00pm.  After lunch we finish up Language Arts and then ENCORE classes.  After Encore classes students are loaded up to go home.    Whew!

In Social Studies we just finished reviewing  maps and globes and now we are moving into exploring Virginia’s Geography!  By next week the students ought to know a cool river rap and an awesome region song!

Welcome to Fourth Grade!

Welcome back to school.  I am so excited to be your son/daughter’s teacher this year.  This is actually my 12th  year in fourth grade and I couldn’t be happier.  Fourth Grade is a fun and challenging year for students, teachers, and parents.  Students will be introduced to many unfamiliar concepts that will provide the foundation for future learning in fifth grade as well as middle school.  I believe that it is important to challenge students but support them as well.  If they are challenged without support failure can be expected.  However, challenge with support can lead to high achievement with much success.  Most importantly, I want your child to be happy and learning… the perfect combination.
